ABOUT SHARON

Sharon Marino is Founder and Principal of Marigold Educational Coaching and Consulting LLC, an independent practice that serves school systems and educational nonprofits. In this role, she leverages 20+ years of experience with the School District of Philadelphia (SDP), where she built programs to improve access and outcomes for students and families. Sharon excels at identifying areas of opportunity and utilizing data analysis to design solutions that produce results in record time.

In early 2022, Sharon launched her consulting practice following a distinguished career as a principal, coach, instruction specialist and classroom teacher. She offers an array of services, including leadership and instructional coaching, grant application development, early literacy support, data analysis, school/nonprofit sector partnership management, and more.

Most recently, Sharon spent eight years as Principal of Alexander K. McClure Elementary School. In this role, she secured “Community School” designation from the Mayor’s Office of Children and Families, providing students and families access to need-based academic tutoring, medical/mental health resources, technology support services and more.  In addition, the school was awarded “Overall School Progress Report Highest Three-Year Improvement” in 2019—2020 after moving from “Intervene” status in 2015—2016 to “Reinforce” status in 2018—2019. Sharon also secured numerous local, state and federal grants, including the “Good to Great Early Literacy Grant” ($45K), pandemic-recovery “Pandemic Restart Grant” ($10K) and a school-wide “Picasso Art Grant” ($30K).  Under the umbrella of coaching, Sharon personally mentored 12+ staff members who advanced to become assistant principals, principals, ESL managers and family and community engagement liaisons.

A native of southwest Philadelphia, Sharon holds a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from Rosemont College, a Masters in Elementary Education from St. Joseph's University, ESL (English as a Second Language) Certification from Penn State Abington, Principal (K-12) Certification from Cheyney University, and is a certified 200-hour Yoga/SEL teacher.  Beyond her consulting practice, she promotes equity in education through her service on the Montgomery County Intermediate Unit Board, the Colonial School District Board and the Colonial Area Anti-Racism Social Equity Alliance (CAARSEA). Sharon is also a member of the Neubauer Fellowship's Philadelphia Academy of School Leaders.

Sharon's ability to listen, ask difficult questions and lead with purpose and care brings solidarity and comfort to all.  Sharon is a teacher and learner at the core.
